Astro orbiter & Carousel of progress demolition
Right off the bat after the July 1st announcement of Tomorrowland 2055, two attractions will be shut down by the end of the year. Astro Orbiter, a ride almost universally panned by theme park fanatics, will gladly see it's demise after the Summer rush in early September, with no tacky flat rides to replace it, leaving room for a little common area. The more controversial closure, however, will be of Walt Disney's own Carousel of Progress. This show does not fit the Tomorrowland 2055 theme, and will therefore be demolished. If you are one of the avid CoP fans, no need to fret; the attraction will be preserved and eventually worked into another Disney Park around the world. Although this year is relatively quiet for new attractions, the silver lining is that WDI is hard at work renovating three attractions in Tomorrowland which will all be open next year.
